The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Unity Group of Companies, Dr Kwame Kyei has been awarded with Entrepreneurship Achievement Honors at the third Ghana entrepreneur Awards “Hall of Fame”.

The award was presented at the 3rd Ghana Entrepreneur award ‘Hall of Fame” 2015 held last Friday at the Banquet hall in Accra.

The Ghana Entrepreneur award ‘Hall of Fame”(GEHOFA) instituted by Entrepreneur Foundation of Ghana is annual event to recognized outstanding Ghanaians and non-Ghanaians to serve  as a motivation for budding Ghanaian entrepreneurs in small, medium and large enterprises (SMLEs) in sustaining economic growth and generating employment in Ghana.

GEHOFA which was in two category, Lifetime Achievement Honors and Entrepreneurship Achievement Honors were given out to over twenty-five personalities.

Dr Kwame Kyei was awarded Entrepreneurship Achievement Honors category with a plague which acknowledged his role in demonstrating a knack for business and entrepreneurship.

Dr. Kyei is currently the CEO of Unity Group of Companies with interest in Oil Marketing, Broadcasting Hospitality and the Private Security Sectors of the Economy.

The group has a workforce of over 1,200.Between 1992 and 1995, he became a transporter for BOST in the haulage of petroleum products.

In 1995, Dr. Kyei established his first petroleum product retail outlet at Taifa, Accra and became a leader for the Ghana Oil Company Ltd (GOIL), from a humble beginning he steadily expanded the business and was granted an Oil Marketing License by the National Petroleum Authority leading to the establishment of Unity Oil Company Ltd. In 2002.

His company currently owns and operates a network of over thirty (30) Petroleum Product Retail Outlets across the country.

As a result of strict adherence to best practices and good corporate relations, the company is a well-respected member of the petroleum downstream sector in Ghana.

The latest addition to the group is Vision 1 (93.5 FM) an ultra-modern private radio station in Accra opposite St Johns Senior High School.

For Dr. Kyei, every charitable act is a service to God. From his perspective he sees the Unity Group as a vehicle for spreading the benefits of economic development across all segments society. 

He is married and blessed with six children.

In another development, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Unity Group of Companies, Dr Kwame Kyei has been awarded a medal as “Ghana Peace Icon” in the country. The medal was given under the Ghana Thank You Award initiated by Global Trade Network International (GTNI) which was organized on Saturday 25th April 2015.This is the 3rd edition of the Ghana Thank You Award under the theme “Ghana Peace Icons”.

GTNI, in collaboration with World Peace Volunteers (WPV) and Movement for Youth Peace and Development (MYPD) observed the day by nominating people who have worked hard in one way or the other towards sustaining democracy in Ghana.
